and yes there were hard things too….good friends challenged with illness, others finding it’s time to move on from a relationship, dreams just an inch away and then gone, there are still wars  and racism and discrimination against women and challenges to all of our perceptions of what the world should be…and still , it’s  all perfect.
We are here and we have ourselves and our lives and each other.

and as we keep breathing through it all, the most miraculous things happen….the future unfolds before our eyes!   2010 will bring many miracles I know it.

One of the most powerful films we saw this year was Invictus. Mandela.  What a human being!  Paraphrasing……I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

What I am is enough! Just being born is reason enough to have the support and love of the universe. Right now is perfect. ok. now that we’ve established this, I’ll look into what I’d like the future to hold, and maybe it’ll happen or maybe something better is the plan.

I’ve been saying these things and more  every day.

So….thank you for all your support and inspiration and being here so bravely to weather the storm and the beauty of these times.

It’s been a busy time and a happy time. We are collecting more and more photos on the hopeisathing.com website……please send yours in!!! I want to have 1000 pictures of hope by the end of November….just take a photo of  yourself holding a handmade sign that says what you hope for and send it to info@hopeisathing.com and we’ll upload it for you!  We want them from all over the world!!

Had a blast performing in New York at Joe Pantoliano’s No Kidding Me Too premiere. There are some photos on the site I think! We’ll be back in New York soon!!

Next Friday the 20th, we have our Northern California CD release at Rudramandir in Berkeley so come on out if you’re there!!! We’d love to see you.

There is finally an official Youtube channel for Lisbeth Scott! Yay!! Thank you Shawn! If you go to www.youtube.com/lisbethscott you’ll see the newest videos and tv and film clips etc.
There’s a cool new performance of Hope Is A Thing that I performed at UCLA recently with Quinn on drums and Kim Carroll on Ron roco.

I’m releasing my Christmas album on November 2nd as an enhanced CD with a beautiful video to the song Dona Nobis that Director Sam Balcomb shot.

But the biggest news is……yes folks it’s true. My new solo album comes out on October 20th…in just a few short months….I just hyperventilated. It’s been two years in the making and i am so proud of this music.
it is some of my best music and features great work by Bernie Locker, Greg Ellis, Dan Lutz, Quinn, Kim Carroll, Nathan Barr and me of course. The room buzzes as I work and I know this is something special. Something the world could use right now.

So I’ve decided to release it in a much bigger way than I have my past albums. I am humbly asking for help in doing this from my fans and community.
The cost is quite high to get the music out in the way that I want. A friend suggested I create a website on which people could donate to the project if they chose to.
So I’ve done that with the help of Anneli Molin Skelton and Outi Harma.
It’s called www.hopeisathing.com and I would be so grateful if you could spread the word. All the info is on the site. There are various gifts and rewards that I am excited and honored to offer.
And the best thing is that a percentage of all donations is given to the LA non-profit organization “Education Through Music” which brings music lessons to underprivileged children.

So that is all the news today. More coming. and thank you thank you for being a part of my life and listening to my music. What a joy it is to be me and create music for you, me and the world.

So much beauty in life and music…..I do hope you are all enjoying life or many aspects of it these days….
It is a particularly prolific time for me, many projects on the plate all of which I love…
Recently worked with Sean Callery who wrote a beautiful piece for his show Medium that I sang the other night…
will be aired on April 20th…Have such a  fantastic project with Kim Carroll coming out this fall…and a few more up my sleeve…

Got some new shots of me at piano recording that I’m putting up on the photos page…wearing my friend Joan’s gorgeous jewelry…

Just finished a new version of Amazing Grace that I’ll be putting up on itunes soon, as well as the songs Rise and Too Deep that I wrote for the wonderful film Canvas.

Also have four tunes in a new and powerful documentary done by Joe Pantoliano called No Kidding Me Too. Look for this….it’s so beautifully done and moving…
deals with the subject of mental illness and addiction of all kinds… will keep you posted on where you can find it…

Going to Esalen with Anneli and Micheal Skelton at the end of April to be their resident musician for a week of fantastic dance and exploration of the soul….ahhhhhhhhh…

I’ll be releasing a Christmas album through Kosmic Music in early November about which I’m very excited. Joan Baez once did a beautiful holiday album called Noel and it is stunning in its production and performance. I remember thinking if I ever did one, it would be inspired by her….and so it is.  The tunes are unusual  and  are performed and produced in a simple yet unique style. I can’t wait to share it with you.
I have also recently done some fun films and television projects….Tropic Thunder, yes that was me mocking myself! (Thank you Teddy!), a new film based on the hit show “24” coming out soon, with composer Sean Callery, some touching and powerful documentaries which I’ll  tell you about soon, and more. 

For the hot new HBO series True Blood, Nathan Barr, the composer, and I wrote a lovely tune in episode 6 which will be available through Kosmic Music…I’ve also done some singing on the beautiful score which you should definitely hear….it’s incredible.
And yes my Hunter project is coming out in 2009…..

There will also be another release through Kosmic Music in 2009  that is a bit unusual for me.  I’ve wanted to pull my favorite tunes from each of my albums and release them together for a while and Kosmic was into this idea (thank you Russell!)….so guess what? I’m doing it.
There will be about 3 new tunes on it as well so I’ll keep you guessing there for a while.

There are some performances coming up in the fall too,  with Kim Carroll playing the music from a project we’re writing, with Dwight Trible sharing an evening of our own works and yes several solo shows…..so stay tuned ….and keep figuring it all out! You’re not alone!!
Hmm, but then there are those who say we are all ultimately alone….but can’t we be alone together? Wait. That’s the name of album.

I’ve got a new look (thank you Damjan and Raj) and a whole lot of news to go with it….

Happy Spring to everyone….it’s full of incredible projects for me… BioMusique, my collaboration with Greg Ellis, comes out in May . It’s on Kosmic Records and will be featured in Borders and Barnes & Noble

and on several NPR shows including Echoes among other things. We are so excited to share this creation…It’s absolutely gorgeous and like nothing you’ve heard…all percussion and voice. It is called “The 10,000 Steps” and hits store May 13th …so get ready!

I recently had the pleasure of collaborating with the dynamic EMI duo“Bliss” from Denmark. They were here in Hollywood for 5 fun filled days and we did lots of recording here at my studio for their new project which comes out in May as well. Their sound is the quintessential cool… ambient lounge….just perfect. We worked on 6 tunes, 4 co-written and sung…will keep you posted on exact dates and tracks!

Greg Ellis and I are both working with the earthy and rhythmic group Medicine Drum (Chris Decker) on their next project….in the meantime we’re doing a whole bunch of shows with them starting in May which

you can find on the shows page of this site…as well as some touring with Biomusique to Brazil and Spain and other points around the world!

Niffie has had a challenging month but I’m happy to say she’s happy and Healthy now, ready for the studio and the road! There will be lots of new photos in her gallery as well as some new video footage!! She’s such a star.

Many films as always..Prince Caspian is awesome!..and you’ll laugh pretty darn hard at Ben Stiller’s new film…especially the spots where I’m singing!

Go see Shutter, in theatres now and you’ll hear the song Nate Barr and I wrote for the film. It’s a little scary so hang on to your seats…the film not the song!

Lots of births for me and for all of us I think…green green green may this earth always be green…..
